Driver FAQs

Where do you operate?

We currently operate in the following states:

AZ, CA, CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, IN, MD, NV, NJ, PA, TX, VA, WA

What are the steps to get started?

1. Sign up.

2. Complete your profile by providing your driver license, profile photo, and verify your rideshare account.

3. Once your account is complete, you can request any vehicle in your area by going to "Find a Car" and providing your location. 

4. Review the vehicle details including price, mileage, minimum rental duration, location, and even message the owner in advance.

5. At the time of booking, a hold will be placed on your card. Once the owner approves the booking, the payment will be processed.

6. Coordinate with the owner for preferred pickup time and location. When the owner confirms pickup, your insurance and rental documents will be provided in your account and your rental will begin.

What are the requirements to rent a car?

Drivers must be 21 years of age with a clean driving history. You will provide your driver license for our system to verify. If you are a rideshare driver, you need to connect your gig accounts under your TripCity Profile to get verified.

Your own insurance is not required.

Can I use my own insurance?

While in a TripCity rental, we require that all renters use our insurance to ensure proper coverage under our policy. Renters may not use their own insurance.

What are TripCity's fees?

TripCity charges a single fee: the daily Renter Platform Fee which includes the cost of the insurance. The vehicle owner will set the daily or weekly rate of the vehicle. This initial amount will be due up front. After that, you can continue to extend your rental so long as the owner allows it.

 

Will I have to pay a deposit?

TripCity does not require a deposit, but we allow vehicle owners the option to charge a deposit or not. Make sure to check with the owner of the vehicle to confirm.

When do I receive the rental documents?

We provide the registration, insurance, and rideshare inspection at the time of pickup. These documents will automatically be posted to your TripCity account when the vehicle owner confirms pickup of the rental.

Save these documents, navigate to your rideshare account, select to Add Vehicle, and upload the documents there to have the vehicle updated and approved within minutes.
